What is SEO?

Simply put, SEO (search engine optimisation) is the process of attracting and growing a website’s organic search traffic without paid advertising.

It is a waste of budget to spend money on PPC (Pay per Click) advertising like Google Ads and Paid Social Media like Facebook Ads if a website is not organically optimised first.

There is no point in having a website if the only people who know about it are existing customers or anyone else who knows the URL (friends, family, existing business associates etc.)

The website visitor you need is someone who needs your product, service or information but doesn’t know about your website (yet!).

This is particularly important for local searches if your business has a service area or a specialist in its field.

Why is SEO important?

People use a variation of words or sentences (both short and long) called keywords in their search for an answer.

A website or a webpage can attract customers by appearing on a search result for those keywords.

But you’re unlikely to appear on a search result without effort, as other businesses are trying to do the same.

This is why SEO matters.  It helps show Google that you most deserve to rank.

What are the benefits of SEO?

Most people click one of the first few search results, so appearing higher in the search results usually leads to more traffic.
